The
Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) is conducting a
large-scale planning project to identify issues, concerns, and potential
solutions along the Interstate 89 corridor through Chittenden County out
to the year 2050. The goal of the Chittenden County I-89 2050 Study is to assess
the capacity of Interstate 89 and existing interchanges; identify current
safety, and operational issues; assess future needs; develop and evaluate
alternatives that address identified issues for all modes of
transportation; examine transportation and land use effects of mainline
widening and/or new/expanded interchanges; evaluate climate change
effects of alternatives; determine asset management/maintenance needs; and
develop a vision, goals, and an implementation plan for interstate and
interchange investments along the I-89 Corridor in Chittenden County
through 2050.
